Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has expressed his uncertainty while speaking about the future of striker Luka Jovic.
Ahead of the game against Real Valladolid, the Frenchman publicly refused to rule out a departure for the Serbian international. He said:
“You have to take everything into account.
“Until the fifth [of October], the market is open. We will see. The players are fine and that’s what interests me.”
Jovic started Los Blancos’ third La Liga game on Wednesday night, staying on the pitch for 58 minutes, and finally getting substituted off by Vinicius Junior after failing to launch any drastic impact on the match.
Vinicius then scored the only goal of the game, helping them garner all three points on the night.
Manchester United are reportedly in the race to sign a striker – a back-up option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s #1 choice Anthony Martial.
The name of Jovic has been mentioned alongside the former PSG striker Edinson Cavani.
Jovic joined Real Madrid for €60m last summer but has scored only two goals from 29 games thus far. His inconsistency has seen him getting lesser game time than he would have expected while joining Los Blancos.
And a move out of the Santiago Bernabeu could ultimately help him rejuvenate his career as he is only 22 years old.
There have been talks between the clubs over a season-long loan deal. Several reports suggest Jovic wants the move. And both parties are eager to conclude the deal. It would be interesting to see how the story pans out in the coming days.
