‘World class’ Marcus Rashford helps Man Utd beat Wolverhampton Wanderers

Manchester United completed the year on a strong note with a 1-0 Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium today.

The Red Devils went into the game on the back of four successive wins in all competitions and were widely fancied to pick up a fifth-straight victory.

However, Wolves made it tough for them. Rashford, who was initially benched due to disciplinary reasons, made the difference in the second half for United.

The 25-year-old broke the deadlock in the 76th minute. Bruno Fernandes delivered the assist but Rashford had much to do to find the back of the net.

The England star showed terrific strength to ward off challenges from Nathan Collins and Jonny Otto before guiding the ball beyond the grasp of Jose Sa.

Rashford found the back of the net again in the 84th minute but unfortunately the goal was chalked off as the ball had initially made contact with his hand.

Nevertheless, it was an excellent cameo from the United graduate. As described by Luke Shaw, he was ‘world class’ and can be one of the best players.

Overall, Rashford completed 93 per cent of his passes against Wolves over 45 minutes with two shots on target. He won one dribble and one interception.

He has now taken his club tally for the season to 11 goals from 22 outings alongside four assists.

Aside from Rashford, David de Gea deserves praise after making two fantastic saves in the second half to ensure that Wolves had no way back into the game.

The victory has put United into the top four for the first time this season. They are now two points ahead of Spurs, having played the same number of games.
