Transfer Rumours

Wonderkid pens five-year contract with Manchester United snubbing interest from Chelsea and Arsenal

Reports from a reliable source in Sebas Giovanelli have claimed that Manchester United have agreed to a five-year deal with 18-year-old winger Facundo Pellistri ahead of his permanent move from Club Atletico Penarol.

According to the Uruguayan football expert, Manchester United want the player to join their ranks as early as possible, whereas Pellistri’s current club are desperate to keep him at the club until January 2021.

Chelsea and Arsenal were reportedly interested in the winger, but United were the keenest admirer and hence showed the robustness while chasing the signature of the teenager.

Pellistri is a coveted product of Penarol academy.

Since making his intervention into the senior team in 2019, the Uruguayan has had played 37 matches, scoring only two and providing two assists for the Uruguayan first division side, as per the statistics from Transfermarkt

Manchester United are in the market for a winger, more distinctly a right-winger. And with United not looking to pay an enormous amount of €120 million for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, they need someone to strengthen the depth in wings.

Though, it is unlikely to see an inexperienced teenager to be given a senior shirt right away. He would probably have to adapt the rigidness of English football first.

Manchester United haven’t made any official announcement as the transfer window closes in less than 50 hours.
