Will Amrabat and Casemiro Play Together in United’s Midfield?

Sofyan Amrabat is a Netherlands-born, Moroccan international footballer who recently signed for Manchester United on a loan deal from Italian Serie A side Fiorentina.

The defensive midfielder was one of the Premier League’s last transfers on deadline day of the summer transfer window. United manager Erik Ten Hag got his man for €10 million with the option to buy at the end of the 2023/34 campaign.

The question being asked here is, where will Amrabat and Casemiro play together in Manchester United’s midfield? Let’s take a closer look at the most likely thing that will happen.

Where will Amrabat fit in at United?

The most likely scenario is that Erik Ten Hag will leave Eriksen on the bench and replace him with Amrabat in the starting 11. The aim is to immediately link him up with Casemiro in the middle of the field and play on the opposite side of Fernandes.

Don’t forget that Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, and Raphael Varane are all currently out injured, so the manager may need to shuffle things around in those first few games.

What are Manchester United’s chances of winning the league this year?

At many of today’s most trusted online sports betting sites, such as the official 32redbet website, you will find that Manchester United are, on average, priced at around 28/1 in the fractional odds format. These odds mean they only have a 3.40% chance of winning the 2023/24 Premier League campaign outright.

In other words, it’s not looking good for United. In comparison, current reigning champions Manchester City, who are also at the top of the league right now, are priced at 2/5 (with a 71.40% implied probability rate).

Where are Manchester United in the league?

Manchester United are currently in 11th place in the league with just 6 points, having lost 2 of their opening 4 games. In their first game of the season on August 14th, they beat Wolves 1-0 at home, thanks to a 76th-minute goal from the currently injured Raphael Varane.

They travelled away to play Tottenham in their next league game on August 19th and lost 2-0. Their next game was a home game, this time against Nottingham Forest, which the Red Devils ended up winning 3-2, and then on Sunday, September 3rd, they lost 3-1 to Arsenal after an early goal from Marcus Rashford put United up 1-0.

What were Manchester United’s biggest signings this year?

Here are some of Manchester United’s biggest signings that occurred during the summer transfer window:

  • Rasmus Højlund – €75 million from Atalanta (centre-forward)
  • Mason Mount – €64.20 million from Chelsea (attacking midfielder)
  • Andre Onana – €52.50 million from Inter (goalkeeper)

Some of the players who left United this year were Dean Henderson, Alex Telles, Fred, Anthony Elanga, Eric Bailly, Mason Greenwood, David De Gea, Alex Tuanzebe and Phil Jones.

Upcoming fixtures

Manchester United play at home to Brighton in the league on September 16th, and then on September 20th, they travel to Germany to play Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich in their first group match (group A) of the UEFA Champions League. Their next league outing is against Burnley on September 23rd.

Can Manchester United win the UEFA Champions League?

There’s a good chance that Manchester United can progress through the group stages with Bayern Munich, but they need to finish first or second in the group. The other two European teams in their group are Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen.

Manchester United are now at 22/1 (so they only have a 4.30% implied probability rate of winning), meaning it’s not looking likely. The odds-on favourite to win again this year are Manchester City at 9/4. You then have Bayern Munich at 11/2, Real Madrid at 7/1, Arsenal at 11/1, FC Barcelona at 14/1, and Paris Saint-Germain at 16/1.
