Manchester United are set to take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the fourth round of this season’s FA Cup, with kickoff in under two hours’ time.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer announced the team news at his pre-match press conference on Thursday, confirming that the trio of Marouane Fellaini, Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling would all be unavailable to face the Gunners due to injury.
The caretaker manager also confirmed that Alexis Sanchez is ready to return to action and will be facing his former club in North London this evening.
Solskjaer told MUTV on Thursday:
“He’ll be involved.
“I think he’ll love it if the crowd turn against him. As a player, pride kicks in and you think ‘I’ll show all of you’.
“He’s been fantastic in training, his attitude has been spot on so hopefully he’ll enjoy the game.”
The question is, will Alexis Sanchez be involved from the start?
Sanchez has not played since our 2-0 win over Reading in the FA Cup three weeks ago, where he limped off just after the hour mark.
However, the boss says that he has been fantastic in training, suggesting that he could be fit from the start of this one. We are hopeful that the Chilean does indeed start and we can see him doing so on either flank.
Though, we think realistically it will be during the second half that Alexis makes an appearance from the substitutes bench. In our predicted lineup earlier today we went with Anthony Martial on the left and Jesse Lingard on the right.
We put a poll out on our Twitter earlier this evening, asking you whether you think Sanchez should be involved from the start. At the time of writing the votes are 50/50:
