Will Alexis Sanchez return to Man Utd?

Alexis Sanchez has been spending the 2019-20 season on loan at Italian giants Internazionale from Manchester United.

The forward’s days at Old Trafford appeared numbered last summer when we sent him out on loan having failed to make many appearances under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during the second half of our 2018-19 campaign.

Sanchez has never reached the heights as expected since arriving in an exchange deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January 2018.

Injuries have limited the Chilean’s time at Inter Milan this season, making just two Serie A starts and a further seven substitute appearances.

The disruption football has suffered over the past three months means Alexis Sanchez will have had time to recover from injury and return to full match fitness ahead of Inter’s final 13 league matches which restarts next weekend.

We reported last month that Inter are yet to make a decision on Sanchez, whether they want to make the deal permanent or not.

Should the Italian club not take up the opportunity to sign Sanchez this summer then Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that the forward would have the opportunity to fight for his place at Old Trafford.

Speaking in an interview with the Star on Sunday, the Norwegian boss said:

“Of course there’s a place for good players and good people in this environment.

“Let’s see where we get to after the season, because we do feel this squad is exciting. We do feel we’re on the way to something.

“It’s up to all the players when they’re here to do well, because there’s always talk of people coming in and out, and it’s about gelling this group together.”
