Who is Jens Petter Hauge? Manchester United’s Norwegian transfer target

Reports from Dagbladet suggest that United’s senior scout Tommy Møller Nielsen are keeping tabs on Norwegian teen sensation Jens Petter Hauge.

United’s manager earlier suggested that United are not looking to sign any marquee players. With United not looking to match the €120m Jadon Sancho valuation, Hauge serves as a replacement.

There has been a youth revolution at Old Trafford since Solskjaer arrived. Under Ole, eight Academy players made their first-team debuts for Manchester United for the 2019-20 season- equalling a 67-year-old mark set by Sir Matt Busby.

The Norwegian boss wants to combine youth and experience at Old Trafford and bring back the heritage. Filip Stevanovic’s arrival is yet to be confirmed by the club but Stevanovic’s acquisition shows United want young, raw and ruthless talent.

Jens Petter Hauge is a right-footed winger who can play on both the wings and is highly talented. His adept dribbling ability helps him to get past defenders or he can run behind defenses to create space and receive the ball in dangerous areas. He has scored eight goals and grabbed six assists in 12 appearances he made for Bodø/Glimt this season.

“It’s quite clear,” Hauge told Eurosport. “When a club like Manchester United comes on the field, it will always be interesting.

“If that’s right [United scout watching him], then it’s very positive. But it’s not something I can go around thinking about, because then my performance will drop.”

Solskjaer himself is an inspiration to every Norwegian footballer. Given cultural differences, Hauge wouldn’t hesitate to work with the Norwegian legend.

Does this move make sense for United? Yes, it does. However, Sancho is a far better potential than Hauge. Sancho should be the prime target for United. United already have a similar player to Hauge in Dan James.
