Manchester United Under 18s have been on a roll lately, racking up a five-game unbeaten run.
They recently went up against Derby County U18 in a match that resulted in a 1-1 draw away from home.
Dajaune Brown scored first for Derby as they went ahead 1-0 in the 24th minute. A misplaced backpass gifted the ball to Brown, who made no mistake in slotting the ball past Elyh Harrison.
United equalised in the 78th minute via Victor Musa Aigbomian. A string of passes led to the goal, with Musa sweeping the ball into the back of the net from a low cross.
Travis Minnion’s men were the better side in terms of passing and possession, but Derby enjoyed more shots on target (10) compared to only four from the Red Devils. It was a close contest, and a draw means United are now third in the table.
The youngsters are nine points behind Manchester City U18 with three games in hand. They also sit two points behind Sunderland U18.
Man United U18 have played 12 games in the league, with only two losses and two draws.
Following the Derby game, Binnion said he was not pleased with the first half and thought the team recovered well after the break.
He also expects his youngsters to learn quickly and added that they should have won the game.
Man United U18 will next play Newcastle United U18 on February 11. With Newcastle sitting 11th in the league, the Red Devils will expect to win the game.
