Some Manchester United supporters have heaped praise on Eric Bailly following his solid display in the 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Premier League on Monday night.
Prior to the Blues clash, the 25-year-old had not played a single minute for the first-team this season, given he was working on his fitness after recovering from a long-term knee injury.
In Victor Lindelof’s absence, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could have easily picked Phil Jones over Bailly, but the Norwegian took the decision to go with the latter after being impressed by him in training.
Bailly proved his worth with a calm and collective display where made three key blocks, as per whoscored. One of those saw him steal possession from Michy Batshuayi before calmly playing his way out of trouble.
That moment certainly caught the attention of many United fans and some of them have taken to Twitter to appreciate the defender’s impressive return to competitive action after a long injury lay-off.
Twitter Reactions:
Eric Bailly dropping his shoulder in his own 6 yard box under some serious pressure. What a guy.

I don't care what anyone says, when Bailly is fully fit he is the best centre-back at Manchester United. This is not an opinion, its a fact. We've missed him. Don Eric. ?

United have looked in a better defensive shape with a back three and they have picked up back-to-back clean sheets against Manchester City and Chelsea, where Solskjaer has gone with the formation.
Obviously, there was some luck on United’s side on Monday night but there are positives with the win bringing the club within striking distance of the Champions League spots.
United will be in Europa League action on Thursday night where they are scheduled to face Club Brugge. The club will make the trip to the Jan Breydel Stadium for the first leg of the round of 32 clash.
