West Ham United 2-0 Manchester United: Player ratings as the Hammers pile misery on Erik ten Hag

Manchester United were humbled by West Ham United with a 2-0 defeat in the Premier League on Saturday.

Erik ten Hag made a big change to the starting XI, fielding club graduate Willy Kambwala alongside Jonny Evans in the heart of the defence.

Man United looked shaky from start to finish.

Jarrod Bowen broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute, and Mohammed Kudus doubled West Ham’s lead six minutes later.

Let’s get into some player ratings.

Player Ratings

Andre Onana – 5/10

Onana made a couple of decent saves but was unlucky with Bowen’s strike. His positioning could have been better for the second goal.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 5/10

The Red Devils missed the attacking urgency that Diogo Dalot brings to the right flank.

Wan-Bissaka must do more if he wants a new long-term contract at Man United.

Willy Kambwala – 6/10

An impressive debut for the youngster.

Jonny Evans – 5/10

A more proactive defender would have closed down the space and prevented Kudus from taking the strike as freely as Evans managed.

Luke Shaw – 6/10

The England international was one of the better performers for the Red Devils today.

Kobbie Mainoo – 5/10

The 18-year-old looked assured in the midfield until his miscued pass led to West Ham’s second goal.

Scott McTominay – 3/10

He offered no quality on the ball and was a passenger all afternoon. Christian Eriksen must replace him in the next game.

Bruno Fernandes – 5/10

United’s skipper kept the game moving and played a couple of decent through-balls. However, his display was way below the standards he has set for himself.

Alejandro Garnacho – 4/10

Garnacho should have put Man United ahead in the first half but failed to leverage his one-on-one opportunity against Alphonse Areola.

Antony – 4/10

The Brazilian produced another harmless display apart from his one through ball to Garnacho.

Rasmus Hojlund – 4/10

Hojlund continues to be starved of service but he has to do more himself and get more involved. He was substituted before the hour mark.

Substitutes

Marcus Rashford – 4/10

The 26-year-old had more than 30 minutes to make his presence felt but failed.

Facundo Pellistri – 5/10

Another attacker who failed to make any impact on the game.

Sergio Reguilon – N/A

Too late to rate.

Christian Eriksen – N/A

Too late to rate.
