Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided team news ahead of the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils returned to winning ways on Boxing Day. They secured a fantastic 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa with three goals in the second half.
Ten Hag will be aiming to continue the momentum by beating Forest on the road tomorrow and ahead of the game, he has provided an update on the squad.
The Dutchman revealed that there is nothing positive to report. Mason Mount returned to training earlier this week but he won’t be available for the Forest trip.
The same goes for Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire, he told Manutd.com: “So, it will be a similar squad as we had against Villa.”
“I think in mid-January, we expect many players back. Mason, Casemiro, Martinez, [Tyrell] Malacia [and] we expect Harry Maguire [back] of course. We expect many players to return in January.”
United will be aiming to end 2023 on a high
The Red Devils have had a frustrating month of December with just two wins from seven games.
In the Premier League, they have picked up only seven points from a possible 18. Ten Hag will want the players to end 2023 on a high with a convincing victory.
The club had a nervy start against Villa with a number of defensive mishaps. They must guard against the same when they face Forest at City Ground tomorrow.
The reverse fixture saw Forest race into a surprise two-goal lead after just four minutes on the clock, but United made a stunning comeback to win 3-2 in the end.
The fans will be anticipating a more commanding performance this time around.
