Wan-Bissaka out for two to four weeks with fresh injury but Mount close to availability

Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be sidelined for two to four weeks after suffering a fresh setback in the lead-up to the Aston Villa game.

The right-back has endured a difficult campaign due to multiple injuries. The 26-year-old is currently on the sidelines after pulling up in training earlier this month.

Insider United, a social media account which has inside sources in relation to injury news at United, now reveals that Wan-Bissaka will be out for two to four weeks.

Meanwhile, Mason Mount is said to be close to availability, but there is no specific timeframe for Tyrell Malacia, who is still under rehabilitation after a knee surgery.

There is also no update on Luke Shaw, who picked up a fresh issue during the Luton Town game.

United have been hampered by injuries throughout the campaign and they currently find themselves with just one fit and specialist full-back in Diogo Dalot in the squad.

Wan-Bissaka looks set for a period of the sidelines. It could be the case for Shaw. Manager Erik ten Hag recently admitted that it was a fresh injury and unrelated to his calf issue.

Hence, there will be much responsibility on the shoulders of Victor Lindelof at left-back. The Swede had a splendid run from central defence during the back end of last season.

He is not a natural from the left-back role, but needs to step up with consistent displays as United look to close the gap on the top four and qualify for the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Mount’s return to action would be good news for United. The €45 million-rated star has yet to make a significant impact in his debut season due to injury blows.

He has the chance to redeem himself on his comeback. His creativity would be a big plus for the club and we could see a new midfield partnership of him and Kobbie Mainoo.

Mainoo has shown a lot of maturity at such a young age. He could be United’s permanent number six ahead of Casemiro when Mount becomes a regular starter again.
