Belgium finished their emphatic 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign with a ninth victory in 10 games with a 4-0 thrashing at home to Cyprus.
The Red Devils were the first European nation to qualify for next summer’s tournament in Russia when they secured their place last month with two games to spare.
Thorgan Hazard scored a brace either side of his brother Eden finding the back of the net to give Roberto Martinez’s side a 3-0 lead this evening.
Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku was introduced as a substitute on 66 minutes for Paris Saint-Germain right-back Thomas Meunier.
The 24-year-old had headed into the international break with a knock picked up during our 4-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace last weekend. Lukaku subsequently missed Belgium’s entertaining 4-3 win at Bosnia and Herzegovina this past Saturday.
Lukaku was introduced midway through the second half and took less than quarter-of-an-hour to score his 11th goal in only his eighth qualifying game.
The striker brought a long ball down from Axel Witsel, held off a defender before rolling the ball across the goalkeeper into the opposite corner from just inside the penalty area to wrap up another convincing victory.
