Manchester United booked their place in the fourth round of this season’s FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Championship promotion contenders Derby County at Old Trafford this evening.
Despite dominating possession, territory and creating chance after chance, it wasn’t until the 84th minute and a sublime 20-yard strike from Jesse Lingard that opened the scoring for us.
Romelu Lukaku wrapped the game up in the final minute, teaming up well with fellow substitute Anthony Martial on a counter-attack as Derby sent everybody forward in search of a late equaliser.
It was a frustrating game for Marcus Rashford this evening who missed a free header from six yards by hitting the post in the first half, whilst also seeing a good effort come out back off the inside of the post with 20 minutes to go.
Juan Mata and Paul Pogba both saw free kicks well saved by Scott Carson in the first half.
All-in-all it was a good performance from Jose Mourinho’s side but we could do with being more clinical in the final third.
