Manchester United were comfortable 2-0 winners over Championship strugglers in the third round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford this afternoon.
Juan Mata opened the scoring from the penalty spot after the Spaniard won the spot kick himself midway through the first half.
The game was as good as over in first half stoppage time when Romelu Lukaku latched onto an excellent through ball from Alexis Sanchez before taking the ball past the Reading goalkeeper to roll into an empty net.
This goal means Lukaku has scored in all three of his appearances under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer but this was his first start.
Another player making his first start under the Norwegian was Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean had only made his return from injury picked up in late November by appearing as a substitute in our 2-0 win at Newcastle United on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, Sanchez limped off just after the hour, replaced by Marcus Rashford. It didn’t appear to be anything serious at all. When the 30-year-old got to the Manchester United bench he ended up sitting in Ole’s seat temporarily which led to the funny exchange caught on camera below:
