Manchester United’s on-loan striker Odion Ighalo has heaped praise on club graduate Mason Greenwood during a recent Youtube interview with Nana Aba Anamoah.
Greenwood, 18, has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this term and he has bagged 12 goals and four assists from 36 appearances in all competitions.
As a result, he has built his glowing reputation and in a recent interview with Nana Aba, Ighalo spoke about the teenager’s qualities and potential to become a key player for United in the future.
“He’s very young and exciting. Very good player, left and right, he can shoot and score goals,” He told.
He’s a player for the future for Man United. He’s doing well now but in two or three years he is going to be doing very, very well.”
Greenwood featured as the number nine during his academy days but Solskjaer has primarily played him on the right side of the attack with Anthony Martial usually leading the line in the Premier League.
Despite his promising statistics, he has not been able to cement a regular starting role under Solskjaer but that is quite acceptable, given the Norwegian may want to protect him from any early career injuries.
With United eyeing a new striker and right-winger this summer, Greenwood will face more competition next term and he will need to make continuous progress in order to improve his chances of starting games.
