‘Very supportive’: Erik ten Hag boasts about new Man United appointments

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has hailed the appointments of Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox.

United named Wilcox their new technical director in April after the club agreed to a compensation deal with Southampton.

The Red Devils further strengthened their structure by appointing Ashworth as sporting director of the club earlier this month.

Ten Hag told MUTV: “I’m here now for two years. As I said, I came here to win, to win titles and trophies. We won two trophies, after a dry [spell] of six years, so we are in a good direction.

“Now, with the new ownership coming in, they can help us. They are very supportive.

“We’ve made a process, which we’ve constructed across the summer and we are in a very good position, a very strong position to go and attack.

“We are so pleased that around the football, around the first team, we have a strong structure that will help us.

“They are really supportive and that will help us in many ways, like in scouting and recruitment, like in the departments of medical and performance.

“They will be so supportive and that will raise the bar.”

The new ownership is already making significant changes

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already been able to change the mood at the club.

Wilcox took charge with immediate effect in April this year and Ashworth would have done the same.

However, Newcastle United stood firm with their astronomical compensation demand for the 53-year-old.

The two clubs finally reached an agreement after months of negotiations.

Omar Berrada left his role as chief operating officer at Manchester City to become United’s new chief executive. He starts on Sunday.

INEOS extended Ten Hag’s contract after thoroughly reviewing his two-year tenure at Old Trafford.

Ashworth branded the Dutchman as ‘one of the most consistently successful coaches in European football’.

He and Wilcox will be crucial pieces in the jigsaw of the new Man United under INEOS.

The difference is already being seen in this summer transfer window. It was a busy day for the Premier League giants.

They have reportedly submitted bids for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte and Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite in the last 24 hours.

Fabrizio Romano also claimed that Lille had accepted United’s formal offer of over £42 million for Leny Yoro today.

The Red Devils are also closing on Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee and Bayern Munich star Matthijs de Ligt.

The club hierarchy has not been so active in over a decade, and United supporters must be thrilled to witness this exciting transformation.
