‘Very good game’,’Great Play’, some Man United fans appreciate 23-year-old’s performance vs AZ Alkmaar

A selection of Manchester United fans have reacted positively to the performance of Andreas Pereira during the club’s 4-0 Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night.

The Brazilian has been the subject of criticism from a section of the United fans for his displays this season but he came up with a credible showing against Alkmaar, where he started on the left wing.

Pereira was instrumental in the lead-up to the opening goal as he showed an impressive piece of skill to beat two AZ defenders and that has certainly caught the attention of a few United supporters.

The 23-year-old did not have the perfect game for the Red Devils but he came up with the most tackles by any United player (3), as per whoscored, while he also played four long-balls and one key pass for his teammates.

Here are some of the fan reactions on Twitter…

Pereira has been inconsistent with his distribution in the final third of the field and there were a number of situations against AZ where he could have simply passed the ball forward rather than trying a shot or getting dispossessed on the run.

As such, there are still flaws in his game which need to be rectified but he could still prove a useful player off the bench. United could be without Jesse Lingard (knock) for the forthcoming league clash against Everton at Old Trafford and it will be interesting to see whether Pereira earns his first start in three top-flight games.
