A selection of Manchester United fans have appreciated the performance of Luke Shaw during the club’s 3-0 win over Derby County in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The England international has impressed on the defensive point of view for United in recent weeks but he came up with a solid attacking display against the Rams on Thursday night.
Shaw was responsible for the opening goal in the 33rd minute after his shot looped over the reach of goalkeeper Kelle Roos following a slight deflection off Jesse Lingard’s back.
Prior to the interval, he provided the pass which contributed to Odion Ighalo doubling United’s advantage. The Nigerian made it 3-0 in United’s favour in the 70th minute.
Shaw has featured in a back three on a regular basis over the past few months and during that period, he has been unable to provide any meaningful attacking threat.
However, against Derby, the 24-year-old was offered with the chance to feature in his regular left-back role and he was able to impress with key contributions for two of United’s three goals.
This has certainly caught the eye of some United fans, who have taken to Twitter to express their views.
My thoughts:
– Shaw was very good
– I love Ighalo
– Fred and Bruno dome their jobs
– Bailly and Lindelof solid
– Bit of consistency is good
– Romero with good saves
– Our away support is phenomenal
– Yet to concede in the FA Cup
– Huge game at the weekendWayne Rooney = Legend
