Owen Hargreaves has claimed that he would be surprised to see Manchester United failing to keep Odion Ighalo beyond this loan deal. Hargreaves is of the opinion that it would be unwise to not buy the 30-year-old, who has been picked up from Shanghai Shenhua. Despite his age, Watford star made an instant impression by providing a different dimension to United. After coming up with four goals in just eight games, any doubts about the player were quickly erased.
According to talkSPORT, Hargreaves said: “He’s a big United fan isn’t he and he’s done great, he’s done really good, better probably than he could have hoped and Man United could have hoped and he’s been a good addition to the team.”
Ighalo went on to play an integral role in helping United climb up the table after a mediocre start. A self-confessed United fan, Ighalo immediately snapped up the opportunity to make a comeback to English football. After the departure of Romelu Lukaku, United need a player like Odion Ighalo to provide a variation to the style of play. Yet, it can also be a little too quick for the player to be awarded a permanent contract, as it can be risky to judge someone on the basis of a handful of games. As the Premier League prepares to restart, Ighalo will have another chance to prove his doubters wrong.
