United have lost their fear factor

3152Louis Van Gaal has admitted Manchester United have lost their fear factor and conceded the speculations over his future haven’t helped his side during an extremely difficult season, which could take a turn for the worse over the next seven days.

United travel to Shrewsbury for the fifth round of the FA Cup on Monday night before welcoming Midtjylland in the return leg of the round of 32 of Europa League and then face Arsenal at home three days later in a match that could effectively end their already slim hopes of securing a top four finish.

“When you see the last two games, it’s maybe like that,” said Van Gaal. “But then we have to make them fear us again.

“We lost the first match in the Premier League also, against Swansea City, when I first came here.

“But then still we had a very good home record last season – and we can do that again. It’s a question of winning matches in a row.

“That I have said also already to the players, because you cannot continue with losing games.”

The Dutchman has been under pressure for months now and he would be unlikely to remain in charge until the end of the season, should United be knocked out the FA Cup and the Europa League.
