Tottenham submit £70m bid for Man United target Bryan Mbeumo

Manchester United have been dealt a major blow in their summer chase for Brentford sensation Bryan Mbeumo.

Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Thomas Frank as their new head coach, just days after showing Ange Postecoglou the door.

According to The Mirror Football, Spurs have launched a £70 million bid to hijack Man United’s move for Mbeumo.

Their offer of £65m plus £5m in add-ons eclipses United’s previous offer by £10m.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is pushing for Mbeumo to be his marquee signing of the summer, as a public show of faith in Frank.

Despite their shared history, the Cameroon international reportedly prefers a switch to The Theatre of Dreams.

United have put forward a lucrative wage package worth around £175,000 per week, a clear step up from Spurs’ proposed £140,000-a-week deal.

The 25-year-old racked up 20 goals and eight assists in the 2024-25 season.

Mbeumo has just one year remaining on his deal with Brentford, and the Bees are bracing for a high-profile summer exit.

The Red Devils have already secured the signature of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and are now laser-focused on adding Mbeumo to boost their attack.

United head coach Ruben Amorim has previously admitted that his side struggled to score goals in the recently concluded campaign.

Amorim fields his side in a 3-4-2-1 formation. Cunha and Mbeumo are tailor-made to shine in the number 10 positions.

Mbeumo will not only bring an eye for goal but also the work ethic and tenacity Amorim requires from his forwards.

He is a pressing machine in the final third and will help United win the ball back higher up the pitch.

With Spurs heavily interested in hijacking the deal, the Red Devils must speed up their pursuit and put in an offer that Brentford cannot refuse.
