Top 5 Manchester United players to watch out for in Euro 2020

Club football has concluded for this season and the players are in their national set-ups to compete in the upcoming European Championships.

Manchester United players were having a fruitful season before suffering a disappointing defeat to Villarreal in the Europa League final.

Euro 2020 can be a catalyst for them to rebuild their confidence before heading into another gruelling season.

Here are five United players whose performances will be watched closely in this tournament.

5. Daniel James (Wales)

The 23-year old winger is a key player for Wales.

His side prefers to play in a counter-attacking style, which could allow James to make a substantial contribution to their progress in the tournament.

He possesses plenty of pace that can stretch opponents and help his teammates to exploit spaces.

4. Bruno Fernandes (Portugal)

Fernandes is United’s highest goalscorer since his arrival in 2020 but he does not boast a similar record for his national side.

It is unclear why he has failed to show his creative vision on the international stage.

If he can replicate his club form in the European Championship, Portugal will be one of the favourites for the tournament.

3. Donny van de Beek (Netherlands)

The Dutch international has endured a tough season since his £40 million move to the Red Devils from Ajax last summer.

He started only 15 games in all competitions this past campaign.

A successful European Championship will help him to catch Solskjaer’s attention.

The midfielder has to get it right this summer.

2. Marcus Rashford (England)

The 23-year old has been an influential figure on and off the pitch.

In 57 appearances for the club this past season, he scored 21 goals and assisted nine times.

His form deteriorated as the season progressed to the latter stages. This could be due to the injury he has been carrying since the start of the campaign.

However, the patriotic forward will be fired up to help his country win this coveted trophy.

1. David De Gea (Spain)

De Gea had a dreadful outing against Villarreal, failing to save any of the 11 penalties taken by the Spanish side.

To make matters worse, his weak effort was parried away by his opposite number, leaving United fans in tears.

The 30-year old shot-stopper has a chance to redeem himself on the national stage.

If he can produce some extraordinary performances, Solsjkjaer may be forced to choose him over Dean Henderson next season.
