A section of the Manchester United supporters have slammed the performance of midfielder Nemanja Matic during the club’s final pre-season game against AC Milan on Saturday.
The Red Devils found an early lead through Marcus Rashford in the 14th minute but they conceded before the break after a poor bit of play from Matic, who drew regular criticism from the fans last season.
The Serbian received the ball from goalkeeper David de Gea just outside of the box, but his poor first touch meant that the Rossoneri retained possession before Suso found the net moments later.
United eventually won the friendly through a penalty shoot-out after a 2-2 draw in normal time, but the faithful were clearly unimpressed with the showing of Matic, who played for more than an hour.

Matic better not start any game next season

Nemanja Mati? gives the ball away and AC Milan score. Can’t say I’m surprised.

I don't see the value Nemanja Matic brings anymore. He can't turn. Already looking light in midfield as it is.

Matic is supposed to screen the backline but my guy does the complete opposite.

Matic has been criticised for his lack of mobility on the playing field and that was quite visible against the Rossoneri, where he could not recover after losing the possession of the ball in the defensive third.
As such, it won’t be surprising, if he does not make the starting lineup against Chelsea for the league opener, given Scott McTominay has proved a better fit alongside Paul Pogba through the course of pre-season.
Elsewhere, there were a few shaky moments in the defence but the expected arrival of Harry Maguire from Leicester City should improve the performances at the back during the forthcoming campaign.
