Things are heating up at Old Trafford. Manchester United are now in pursuit of Dayot Upamecano, Thiago, Sergio Reguillon and Jadon Sancho amongst others. Sancho has been in the rumours for quite a while now while the Upamecano links have gained more strength as of late. Dean Jones of BR Football, who is in Tier 2 of credibility, gave an update on both of these deals.
According to Dean, United have looked at Upamecano but a deal is more likely next summer rather than this one for ‘various reasons’. One of the reasons could be that the young Frenchman has a €42m release clause, which can be activated at the end of the 2020-21 season. It would also allow United’s finances to recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
The BR Football journalist also states the Jadon Sancho deal is still pretty much alive. The two clubs have decided to go about negotiations in a more respectful manner hence why there is a lack of noise in the media. Previously, United have failed to match Borussia Dortmund’s asking price of £108 million.
Further, the Red Devils wanted to pay the fee in installments while Dortmund demanded a lump sum payment upfront. United still have not presented an official bid to Dortmund, but the negotiations are mocing forward, at the least…
