Manchester United are optimistic about finding an agreement with Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola over the player’s contract extension at the Mancunian club, as per reliable French transfer expert Mohamed Bouhafsi.
Since re-joining United from Juventus in 2016 for a then-record transfer fee of £89 million, Paul Pogba has had endured both good and bad days at his childhood club so far.
Under Jose Mourinho, he went on to win UEFA Europa League and EFL Cup in his first year during his second spell at the club. But, in the following year, he got reportedly involved in several spats with the Portuguese gaffer.
The situation at United was so severe at a period that he was very close to leaving to Manchester United for the second time in his career.
However, an underwhelming run of results saw Jose Mourinho get the sack instead. And Pogba continued to enjoy a new life under the newly-hired manager and the club’s cult hero in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Under Solskjaer, Pogba played 56 matches, pocketing 13 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has his full faith in Pogba and wants the Frenchman to be the focal point of the team. Pogba is a leader both on and off the field. If United are to win some trophies in the coming years, they need someone of Pogba’s ilk to lead the whole team.
The 2018 World Cup winner is an inspiration to his peers. And alongside Bruno Fernandes, it is thought that Pogba could help United get back to the pinnacle of European football.
In a recent interview with Stretford Paddock, Bouhafsi made it clear that Manchester United would love to keep Pogba at the club and an agreement between the two parties could be reached sooner than later.
Pogba is one of the highest earners in Manchester United’s current squad, if not the highest. As reports suggest, United’s no.1 David de Gea earns around £375k per week, whereas Pogba bags an approximate amount of £290k weekly.
United’s attempt to extend Pogba’s could see the Frenchman overtaking the Spaniard in order to become the Red Devils’ highest earner. Being a world-class talent, the midfield maestro deserves to be at the top of the list.
