Manchester United have already signed Mason Mount and Andre Onana from Chelsea and Inter Milan respectively this summer.
They are now planning an approach for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, and manager Erik ten Hag may want many more signings.
A centre-back and a second midfielder could also be pursued. For this to happen, the club need to recoup funds from player sales.
Alex Telles has already been sold to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr for £4 million, and here are three more players that could leave in July.
Anthony Elanga
The Sweden international had a difficult 2022/23 season under manager Erik ten Hag, managing just over 700 minutes of playing time.
He was linked with a loan move to Everton in January, but Ten Hag blocked his departure due to concerns over the team atmosphere.
Elanga has now agreed to join Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £15m, and it is reported that he could undergo his medical this weekend.
The United graduate has turned down Everton, West Ham United and Marseille for Forest. An announcement could be made soon.
Dean Henderson
Henderson has been touted to join Forest on a permanent basis for some time. He spent the previous campaign on loan with Steve Cooper’s side.
Talks are currently underway between the clubs, but Fabrizio Romano revealed yesterday that Forest have proposed another temporary deal for Henderson.
The 26-year-old is already ‘convinced‘ that he will join Forest, but the Red Devils should include a conditional obligation to buy as part of the deal.
It does not make sense to send Henderson on loan without this. His transfer value could drop next summer when he enters the final year of his contract.
Eric Bailly
Bailly spent the recent campaign on loan with Marseille where he made only 23 appearances.
Les Phoceens had a conditional obligation to buy him, but the clause was not triggered. While Marseille qualified for the Champions League, Bailly did not play the required number of games.
The Ivorian is currently deemed surplus to requirements by United. He has not returned to training thus far, and it is only a matter of time before he heads through the Old Trafford exit door.
Bailly is in discussions with Al Nassr at the moment, and he could reunite with Telles and Cristiano Ronaldo in the coming days. United are prepared to sell him for just £2m this summer.
