Manchester United trio Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Leny Yoro have been nominated for the Golden Boy Award this year.
The Red Devils had a mixed 2023/24 season under manager Erik ten Hag. They finished eighth in the Premier League but ended on a high with FA Cup glory.
Mainoo had an exceptional breakthrough season for the Red Devils. He scored the all-important winning goal as United secured a superb win over Manchester City at Wembley.
Garnacho had an equally good campaign for the Red Devils with 15 goal contributions, including the opening goal against Pep Guardiola’s side in the FA Cup final.
It is unsurprising that the duo have been nominated for the Golden Boy Award by Tuttosport.
Leny Yoro has also made the cut after a stand-out season with Lille. The 18-year-old has developed into one of the best young centre-backs in world football.
He has impressed with his superb distribution and aerial presence in the box. Yoro picked up a foot injury in pre-season, but it may not be long before he makes his competitive debut.
The Red Devils made a huge statement by signing him ahead of Real Madrid, who were long-term admirers. The youngster should be an assured starter once he makes a full recovery.
United have turned their focus to building a young squad for the future. The onus has been on signing emerging talents alongside players in the prime of their playing careers.
Things have not worked out in the early part of the campaign, and the manager must turn around the club’s fortunes in the coming months or he could face the sack.
