Thierry Henry drools over United loanee’s display against PSG

Thierry Henry praised Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho after his impressive Champions League display against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

The German giants edged the first leg of the semi-final 1-0 after a superb 36th-minute strike from Niclas Fulkrug.

Sancho, who returned to Dortmund on loan in January, played a key role in the victory.

The 24-year-old had 100 touches in the game and created three chances for his teammates. He also completed 13 dribbles and won 14 ground duels.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was impressed with the winger’s performance and praised him for coming back from his mental struggles at Manchester United.

“We all know that he struggled mentally at Manchester United,” Henry said on CBS Sports.

“The power of the brain and how you can be as a professional… when you are not well here (in the mind), or at home, or whatever it is, you cannot perform.

“I don’t care where you are or who you are or the talent that you have.

“You can see that things are a bit better up there, whatever the struggle was with him, because to do what he did tonight – I think at Manchester United he played 48 games and only dribbled past a player seven times. He did that in the first ten minutes tonight.

“All I can say is – don’t underestimate that. Mental health is not an easy thing to deal with and you can see that when someone is well up there then they can perform, so well done, big man.”

Sancho has bounced back after rejoining Borussia Dortmund on loan in the January transfer window.

The England international has bagged three goals and two assists in 17 appearances in all competitions.

The victory over PSG has secured the Bundesliga an extra Champions League spot and they will be the beneficiaries as they are fifth in the table.

Securing Champions League football means Dortmund could afford to sign Sancho permanently in the summer transfer window.
