The Sir Alex Ferguson Way

article-2458531-18BBF92300000578-174_634x420Having won 13 Premier League titles, two European Cups and having had one of the Old Trafford’s stands renamed after him, with a statue on display outside the ground, Sir Alex Ferguson has now received another tribute, following in the steps of the great Sir Matt Busby.

Sir Alex today received the Honorary Freedom of the Borough of Trafford and had a street named after him by the local council, who renamed one of the roads leading to Old Trafford from Water’s reach to Sir Alex Ferguson way.

“Over a quarter of a century later [since his appointment as manager of Manchester United], to receive the Freedom of the Borough of Trafford, and to have a part of Trafford carrying my name, is truly humbling,” said Fergie.

“Sir Alex has contributed significantly to Trafford over a sustained period of time through his strong leadership of the Manchester United team and it was felt that the Honorary Freeman title and the renaming of the street was a fitting tribute to him,” explained Cllr Matt Colledge, leader of the Trafford Council.

“Football contributes significantly to the borough through the large number of visitors it attracts and jobs it creates.

“It has been through the success of the team that the club has grown in strength over the years, becoming one of the world’s most successful and renowned clubs.”

Is there anything left for this man to achieve?
