Tahith Chong edges closer to a loan move to Werder Bremen

Manchester United youngster Tahith Chong’s proposed loan move to German side Werder Bremen has reportedly found a new lease of life.

A new report from German publication Bild claims that Utd and Werder Bremen have taken a big step closer to agreeing on a loan move for Tahith Chong this evening.

It was previously thought that Werder Bremen were close to agreeing on a season-long deal for the 20-year-old Dutchman but that wasn’t quite the case due to Chong’s wages and United’s Europa League campaign.

The Red Devils demanded that Werder should pay all of the player’s wages (€2.8m). Chong was also sceptical about the deal due to Bremen’s desire to secure him for two years loan deal according to reports.

Tahith Chong is one of several United youth players the club are keen to loan out this season as they look to bridge the gap from under-23s football to the senior game. The likes of James Garner, Ethan Laird and Dylan Levitt could all follow suit.

As the negotiators have now reportedly resolved the issue about the payment of wages, Bild reports that the talks are now said to be so promising that an agreement on Friday is being considered realistic.
