According to the Mirror, Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic has told Manchester United that he wants to join them. This has also been corroborated by the Daily Star.
As per Transfermarkt, he is valued at £28m.
They state that Jovic’s agent has informed Real Madrid that his client wants to leave on loan this season.
Luka Jovic had a tough start at the Spanish capital since his arrival last year. Jovic joined Real Madrid from German side Eintracht Frankfurt. The deal is valued close to £55m.
The Serbian international has scored just two goals in 27 appearances for the Los Blancos. However, he was one of the most lethal goalscorers – scoring 48 goals for Frankfurt in the 2018-19 season.
Jovic’s form and behaviour have put him on Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane’s bad books.
The striker has been cautioned twice for flouting the self-isolation rules put in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
A striker of Jovic’s calibre would be good for Manchester United.
Anthony Martial is the first choice striker but his injury record and a lack of a decent back-up make Jovic to United a good deal. Odion Ighalo’s loan deal is set to expire in less than 100 days. Jovic will be a massive upgrade over Ighalo.
The Red Devils have tried to sign a striker this summer. The club were rejected by teenage hotshot Victor Osimhen in favour of Italian side Napoli.
United have to act quickly if they want to get Jovic on their team sheet for this season. The transfer window closes in a week.
Luka Jovic was also linked to Italian powerhouse AC Milan.
