Edinson Cavani will not leave PSG this summer, the striker’s agent said on Sunday, pouring could water on rumours linking him with a move to the Premier League.
The Uruguayan was thought to be one of the names on Louis Van Gaal’s list as the United manager looks to bolster his attacking options, following the departures of Radamel Falcao and Robin Van Persie.
Speculations over Cavani’s future have intensified over the last couple of weeks, with some suggesting the former Napoli striker could head to Manchester with Angel Di Maria heading the other way.
However, Cavani’s agent Walter Guglielmone has insisted the Uruguayan will not leave the French capital this summer.
“This summer, Edi has received interest from big clubs who are looking for a centre forward,” he told French newspaper Journal du Dimanche.
“But he has not listened to them because the end of last season gave him guarantees in terms of his position.
“We think that (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic will play further and further away from the front line in order to touch the ball more and that he will leave the striker position to Edinson, which happened several times at the end of last season.
“In these conditions, Edi can but only be happy at PSG.”
