Stats show why Kim Min-jae is the perfect signing for Man Utd over Axel Disasi

Manchester United are looking to pursue a top-class centre-back this summer, and they have already been linked with Napoli’s Kim Min-jae and Monaco’s Axel Disasi.

Min-jae has been fancied to join the Red Devils for several weeks, and reports from Italy claim that he could head to Old Trafford when his €60 million release clause becomes active next month.

Meanwhile, Disasi is another centre-back candidate on the club’s radar. The Frenchman is eager to move to United, but it appears he is the back-up plan if Min-jae does not sign.

Both defenders would add a strong aerial presence to United’s defence, but stats show that Min-jae is clearly the player that United must focus on this summer.

Comparing the duo’s performances in their respective leagues last season, Min-jae completed 73 passes per appearance with an accuracy of more than 91 per cent.

Disasi only managed 42 passes per outing with an accuracy of 84 per cent. The former was clearly better when it came to distributing the ball in the opposition half.

Min-jae averaged more tackles (1.6) and clearances (3.5) than Disasi (0.8 & 2.9) while also winning more duels (4.5) than the former Reims man (4.2).

Disasi made more interceptions per game (1.5) than the South Korean star (1.2), but was guilty of losing possession on 9.7 occasions – far more than Min-jae’s average (8.1).

Taking clean sheets into regard, Min-jae also wins the race with 14 compared to Disasi’s nine. The former is clearly the superior centre-back. United must sign him at all costs.

Min-jae is far better with his defensive contributions than Disasi. He has also impressed with his forward pass accuracy and would perfectly suit manager Erik ten Hag.
