Starlet on the move?

Adnan Januzaj 2014Gazzetta Dello Sport are reporting that promising United youngster, Adnan Januzaj, has become a serious target for Italian giants, Juventus.

The Serie A side are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Wesley Sneijder from Galatasaray but have grown frustrated by the Turkish clubs refusal to drop their asking price.

The report suggests Januzaj and United could be open to a loan move until the end of the season.

Last season, under the stewardship of David Moyes, Januzaj became an integral part of all that was good about United’s play but, under the new guidance of Louis van Gaal, the Belgian, who seemingly had the world at his feet 12 months ago, appears to have stalled with little chance of forging his way into van Gaal’s first team plans ahead of Rooney, Falcao, Di Maria, Mata or van Persie let alone James Wilson.

van Gaal oversees trainingDespite having an eye for talent, huge faith in youngsters and having a proven track record for giving future world class stars their first opportunity, van Gaal also believes strongly in allowing youngsters to make their own decisions. He questions their own belief, he questions their desire and he challenges them to force their way into the first team.

“Do you think you have what it takes to play for Manchester United?” he asks them. “If you do, then stay and prove it to me, if not, you’re free to leave”. It’s that simple. It isn’t said with arrogance it’s said to test the individuals spirit. He wants his players where he can see them, he wants them to convince him they have what it takes, he wants to see it for himself.

No doubt Januzaj will have heard those words in the summer and was one of those who chose to stay and fight for his place whereas others like Nick Powell and Tom Lawrence opted for pastures new. If Adnan were now to choose a move to Juventus it could signal a change in his belief and there may be no way back, not at United anyway.

Would van Gaal be right to let Januzaj discover a world away from United? Is he really as good as we made him out to be last season? You tell me.
