Some Manchester United fans have appreciated the performance of midfielder Nemanja Matic during the club’s 3-0 triumph over Colchester United in the quarter-final stage of the League Cup.
The Red Devils experienced a frustrating 45 minutes as they struggled to find the breakthrough against the League Two side but their display was much better following the interval.
United managed to bag three goals in the space of 11 second-half minutes and Marcus Rashford was responsible for the opening strike from a counter-attack in the 51st minute.
The goal resulted shortly after Colchester were on the attack. Matic delivered a sublime long-range pass to Rashford, who cut in from the left flank and scored a superb goal after outsmarting three defenders in the box.
An own goal from Ryan Jackson and an Anthony Martial strike eventually sealed a comfortable victory in the end, and a few supporters have appreciated Matic for his contribution towards the opening goal.
Twitter Reactions:

Matic with yet another solid performance. I know it's only Colchester but his passing tonight has been immense. He knows when to pass forward and when to take his time on the ball. Easily the most underrated player in the squad. #MUFC

Also interesting that our opening goal came from Colchester trying their first real attack in the game, even had more than 2 players in our half. We punished them immediately. Excellent pass from Matic on a running Rash #MUFC

Matic has been out-of-favour for the Premier League duties this season and his position is unlikely to change in the coming weeks with Scott McTominay and Fred clearly regarded as the first-choice midfield options under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
As a result, he has been restricted to appearances in the Cup competitions and it remains to be seen whether the Serbian gets the nod for the doubled-legged League Cup semi-final against Manchester City next month.
Prior to that, the transfer window is set to reopen and The Telegraph has recently claimed that the former Chelsea man could be offered with the chance to join Inter Milan in the Serie A.
