Sevilla have personally offered 24yo midfielder to Man Utd, available for £22m

Sevilla sporting director José Ignacio Navarro has offered Manchester United the chance to sign midfielder Lucien Agoume this summer, according to Vamos Mi Sevilla FC.

The La Liga outfit had another difficult league campaign and just avoided relegation. They finished 13th in the table with 43 points, but were only one point ahead of 18th-placed Mallorca.

The Andalusian side were the subject of a takeover from a consortium led by former defender Sergio Ramos, but the failed attempt means the club need to recoup funds from player sales.

They need to do so before the financial year closes on June 30. Sevilla are aware of United’s prior interest in Agoume, and Navarro has formally offered the midfielder to the club for £22 million.

United don’t seem to be considering an approach. His poor end to the previous campaign is one reason. The club’s scouts are also doubtful whether Agoume has the physicality and stamina required for the Premier League.

United should steer clear of Agoume after a poor season

The former Inter Milan midfielder had a good start to his Sevilla career after his move from Serie A, but his performances have not been to the required standard over the past 12 months.

Agoume had a passing accuracy of just 81 percent from the number six role last term. He managed only 31 successful passes per game and lost possession more than 10 times on average.

The Frenchman won four duels and two tackles per outing, but his positioning was far from impressive. The midfielder picked up 12 yellow cards during the league season with a few notable errors.

Based on his statistics, there are also concerns about his technical ability. The ship has probably sailed for Agoume to join United, given that the club are now looking for more high-profile additions.

Atalanta star Ederson is poised to join the club in the coming days. A second marquee defensive midfielder could be signed, while the remaining funds could be spent on a third-choice option.

Even in that case, United could go for someone like Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney, who is well-versed with manager Michael Carrick’s playing style, having worked alongside him at Boro.
