Mason Greenwood has been one of the standout performers for Manchester United during the pre-season campaign and this has certainly got a section of the fans excited about what he could bring to the table when the real business begins.
In the recent friendly win against Kristiansund, Greenwood put in another impressive showing. The 17-year-old came off the bench for the final half an hour of the game and his lively performance caused plenty of problems for the Norwegian side while increasing United’s urgency to find the winning goal.
Ultimately, it was Juan Mata, who found the breakthrough through the penalty spot in injury time, but the friendly provided Greenwood with another opportunity to showcase his talents. The teenager did not add to the two goals scored during pre-season, but he was impressive with his ability to find space against a spirited opposition defence to get his shot away.
Here’s how the fans reacted to the display…

I just watched Greenwood's individual highlights vs Kristiansund since I missed most of the 2nd half yesterday. I swear he HAS TO start against Chelsea. He's head and shoulders above everyone else at that RW position. pic.twitter.com/9GIPucXHWc

Mason Greenwood is so ready for the first-team. Already looks miles better than some players at the club and he's only 17! Only going to get better ? #mufc pic.twitter.com/hoszdmGMy9

Greenwood has been making the right noises with his performances ahead of the new Premier League campaign and it will be interesting to see whether manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer entrusts him with a starting role for the curtain raiser against Chelsea.
Obviously, the teenager will come up against a tougher challenge than experienced during pre-season, but his tendency to cut inside from the right-wing and equal ability with both feet, offers United with a different option compared to the players within the current squad.
