Sensational price slapped on Man Utd target

Last summer’s transfer window saw incredible transfer fees paid out, particularity in the Premier League.  Manchester United’s biggest signing was Romelu Lukaku, for £75 million up front and a potential further £15 million in add-on fees.

Many are expecting higher fees to be splashed out this summer, particularly with how much Manchester City paid for defenders Kyle Walker (£50m) last summer and Aymeric Laporte (£57m) in January.

Both of those were established players, whereas Fulham are now reportedly going to demand an incredible £100 million for their teenage sensation, Ryan Sessegnon.

The 17-year-old was named Championship Player of the Year and became the first player in the division to be nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award last month.

However, should any interested party want to attempt to sign the teenager they are going to have to splash out an astronomical fee.  That is because the Sun are reporting that the second tier club will demand £100 million, with both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur named as the interested parties.

This comes less than two days after Fulham were beaten in the first leg of their playoff semi-final at Derby County – a game in which Ryan Sessegnon was kept quiet all evening, against one of the poorer right-backs in the division too – Andre Wisdom.

One wouldn’t imagine either club would make an offer any more than half of the quoted amount.  Whilst we are in the search for a new left-back this summer, Tottenham already have Ben Davies and Danny Rose on their books.  Though the latter is almost certain to leave and we are the favourites to land him.

Ryan Sessegnon has also been moved to the left wing role since November and his defensive contribution does leave something to desire.

Personally, I think it would be a surprise to see Ryan Sessegnon at another club other than Fulham next season.  The England under-21 is far from the finished article and the club’s asking price will simply put offer any potential suitors.
