A selection of Manchester United fans have slammed the performance of Phil Jones during the club’s 3-3 Premier League draw against Sheffield United on the road.
The England international was preferred to play in a three-man backline alongside Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire but his performance was so poor that he was replaced at the interval with Jesse Lingard.
Jones looked anxious with the ball at his feet at different stages of the opening 45 minutes and he was responsible for the opening goal after failing to clear his lines.
This has certainly frustrated a number of the United faithful and some of them believe the 27-year-old should be offloaded when the transfer window reopens in January.

Nothing quite tells you the state of our club that Phil Jones can still start games for United just one month shy of 2020. He’s two years away from a testimonial. Awful, awful player who should’ve been binned years ago.

United defence playing a perfect offside line just before the first goal. Then there's Phil Jones…. pic.twitter.com/D35eZH3P3P

Can’t see Jones ever starting a PL game for United, that mistake should be the last straw, hopefully we sell him on now, been a long time coming

United went 2-0 down shortly after the half-time break but they managed to make a tremendous recovery with three goals between the 72nd and 79th minute of the Premier League encounter.
However, that was not sufficient to hand the victory as Chris Wilder’s men fought back with a 90th-minute equaliser through substitute Oliver McBurnie.
Solskjaer’s side certainly lacked the defensive organisation for vast parts of the game but they could still have registered a hard-fought win, had Jones shown more awareness.
Meanwhile, some of the supporters have started questioning the club’s decision to loan out Chris Smalling ahead of Jones, given the former Fulham man has excelled with AS Roma, where he has even scored twice.
Both Jones and Smalling did struggle for consistency last season but the latter surely deserved to fight for his spot ahead of his compatriot, given he has had successful campaigns with the club in the past.
