Scott McTominay fails to make an impact as Scotland crash out of Euro 2024

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay failed to make an impact for Scotland in their crucial 2024 European Championship game against Hungary.

The Tartan Army went into the match knowing they needed to win to have a chance of qualifying for the knockout stage. However, they produced a lacklustre performance.

Kevin Csoboth compounded their misery, netting the winner deep into stoppage time to spark bedlam in the Stuttgart Arena.

The defeat means Steve Clarke’s side have finished at the bottom of Group A, having picked up a single point from their three group matches.

McTominay, who scored in the 1-1 draw against Switzerland, stayed on the pitch until the end but was largely anonymous.

The 27-year-old had 34 touches of the ball and completed just 11 of his 15 passes. He won five of his 11 ground duels and completed a single dribble.

The midfielder offered no goal threat, failed to register a single shot and lost possession on 15 occasions.

He is heading home with the rest of the Scotland squad after yet another underwhelming stint at a major international tournament.
