RVP to leave United this weekend

Manchester-United-v-Leicester-City-Premier-LeagueRobin Van Persie will join Fenerbache by the end of this weekend, according to the Turkish club’s chairman, Aziz Yildirim.

The Dutchman, who is expected to cost the Istanbul side approximately £3.6m, will join former United teammate Nani in Turkey.

“We worked very hard, until midnight. We received five faxes, sent six faxes and finally it was finished,” Yildirim was quoted as saying by Turkish newspaper Fanatik.

“The Van Persie transfer is done and one more star has joined the Fenerbahce constellation.”

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror claims Van Persie’s decision to leave the club came after he felt ‘humiliated’ by Louis Van Gaal.

During his spell at Bayern Munich, the United manager fell out with Mark Van Bommel and Luca Toni, while his relationship with Barcelona’s star man Rivaldo was less than idyllic, and the Mirror claims Van Persie is the latest victim of Van Gaal’s “ruthless streak”.

Typically, however, the tabloid does not mention any source for its report, rather it simply suggests that Van Gaal’s decision to confine the 31-year-old to a more peripheral role was the catalyst for Van Persie’s imminent exit.

The former Arsenal captain has failed to recapture the scintillating form he showed during his first season at Old Trafford and if Van Gaal does not believe he can bring him back to his best, then selling a player worth £250,000-a-week makes perfect sense.

With Radamel Falcao gone and Van Persie set to follow suit, United will have to add firepower up-front, particularly given Javier Hernandez could be moved on as well.
