Manchester United picked up a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town in the Premier League yesterday.
Ruben Amorim made a perfect start as manager as Marcus Rashford scored in the second minute.
However, they were unable to extend their advantage. Ipswich grew in confidence and eventually bagged the equaliser.
Alejandro Garnacho started in an unfamiliar number ten role alongside Bruno Fernandes. He had an average outing.
The Argentine is predominantly a left winger who can also operate from the right. The position seemed alien to him.
The 20-year-old completed 24 out of 27 passes, but he won just three out of 11 duels contested.
Garnacho missed one big chance. He also lost possession on nine occasions and was dribbled past twice.
Amorim made a big mistake by playing him in the wrong position.
He has never played as an attacking midfielder. Amad Diallo would have been a better fit.
Diogo Dalot could have started as the right wing-back, with Garnacho on the opposite flank.
Diallo made an instant impact from his right wing-back role with an assist, but his future could be in the number ten slot.
Garnacho could become a regular at left wing-back, although he will need to improve defensively for that to happen.
United have dropped six points behind the top four after yesterday’s stalemate. They need to return to winning ways against Everton at Old Trafford next weekend.
Prior to that, the club will host Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday night.
