Manchester United are bracing for a pivotal 2024-25 campaign, with a massive summer overhaul on the horizon.
High-profile exits are expected, with Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho likely heading for the Old Trafford exit on permanent deals.
Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof are also nearing the end of their contracts, and both could walk away as free agents in June.
Many believed that Casemiro would also be offloaded due to his astronomical wages.
United head coach Ruben Amorim has now dropped a major hint, suggesting that the Brazilian international may have a future at the club next season.
He said (via ManUtd.com): “Everything can happen. Casemiro is the best example.
“He was a player who wasn’t playing and then, you see the last games, he is having a part and he is performing quite well, he is playing all the time, so I am not the kind of coach.
“I like to change my mind. If they change my mind, I am really happy with that. I just want to win and to put the best players in my team.”
Not good enough for the Premier League
Amorim admitted that he has already made his mind up on players’ futures.
However, he is open to amending his decision if the players can prove their quality until the end of the season.
Casemiro has been in superb form during March and April.
He put in solid performances against Real Sociedad and Arsenal.
He was absolutely phenomenal against Lyon, specifically in the 5-4 victory in the second leg.
With United 2-4 down in extra time, he won a penalty and set up late goals for Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire.
The 33-year-old is the highest earner at the club, drawing a paycheck of £350,000 every week.
There is no doubt that his performances do not do justice to his salary.
He has thrived in the European competition but has had only a few memorable performances in the Premier League.
United need players with relentless intensity and explosive physicality to thrive in England’s top flight.
Casemiro does not possesses those qualities and offloading him could offer United significant financial relief and create room for a younger midfield engine.
With his recent form raising his market value, this summer might be the perfect window to sell.
