Manchester United picked up form before the international break with three wins in four games in all competitions.
The club will aim to continue the momentum at Ipswich Town later this month.
New manager Ruben Amorim is expected to be in the dugout, and he has received a boost with Bruno Fernandes’ early return from Portugal duty.
The 30-year-old had a slow start to the campaign with the Red Devils, but his form improved earlier this month with several goal contributions.
Fernandes was also impressive for Portugal in the Nations League last night. He scored a belter from outside of the box in a 5-1 win over Poland.
The victory sealed his country’s berth in the quarter-final of the competition. Manager Roberto Martinez has released Fernandes from the squad.
This is obviously good news for Amorim, who could start working with the club captain in his first training session scheduled at the start of next week.
Amorim is expected to operate with a preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, and Fernandes could line up as one of the inverting wingers behind the main striker.
Fernandes is also capable of playing from the number eight role, but the £54 million-rated star should start in attack as he is the main chance creator.
United have had a frustrating start to the league season and they are lying 13th in the table.
However, the club are only four points behind third-placed Chelsea and could easily get back into Champions League contention with a winning run.
Amorim’s arrival has brought plenty of belief among the supporters, and it will be intriguing to see whether the players can respond with a string of victories.
