Roy Keane warns Ruben Amorim of ‘big problems’ in attack after Ipswich draw

Manchester United had to settle for a draw against Ipswich Town at Portman Road in Ruben Amorim’s first match as Premier League manager.

Marcus Rashford got United off to a flying start, putting his side ahead with his first touch in the second minute.

Omari Hutchinson cancelled the opener right before half-time in the first top-flight encounter between the two sides since 2002.

Sky Sports pundit and United legend Roy Keane spoke after the game: “He’s [Amorim] got big problems. The lack of threat in the second half and Ipswich looked like they’d go on and win. They’ve not won at home all season.

“Same problems for United, but he’s only had a week with them. You have to give the man a chance but the threat going forward – it’s a huge problem for Man United. It’s not good enough.

“We saw the shape of the team, but it is the same players and the same problems. We talk about leopards and spots. There was a lack of goals and a lack of quality in the second half.

“Ipswich looked the better team. It’s his first game. A lot to take in, and it has been a mental week for him [Amorim], but ultimately he will be disappointed.”

Man United continue to struggle in attack

The struggles in the final third remain the most concerning issue for the Red Devils.

The lack of goals scored by United is alarming. Only Southampton (nine) and Crystal Palace (10) have scored fewer goals.

A change of system and personnel also failed to inspire a change in fortunes at the front.

United’s primary source of creativity, Bruno Fernandes, was underwhelming at Portman Road.

Garnacho got the ball in promising situations but was as ineffective as Rashford, who faded dramatically after his early strike.

Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee were introduced from the bench but did nothing notable.

Keane is right to point out that the hosts had better opportunities to bag the winner, but Andre Onana made two world-class saves to earn a point for his team.

Amorim had just two training sessions with the entire United squad. He needs more time to bring change in the style of play.
