Marcos Rojo spent the second half of the 2019-20 season on loan in his home country of Argentina with Primera Division side Estudiantes.
The defender made just one Premier League start and two more substitute appearances under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season before we sent him out on loan at the end of January.
Rojo was only able to make one league appearance back home before the league was called off in March.
Despite this, Estudiantes manager Leandro Desabato is quoted in Argentina as saying the player wants to make the move to his boyhood club permanent. Desabato is quoted by TNT Sports as saying:
“I called Marcos Rojo and he told me that his intention is to stay at Estudiantes, he wants to remain here. He also told me that it’s key to see what Manchester United say.”
The quote comes at an interesting time because Argentine champions Boca Juniors have been linked with a £12 million move for the defender in recent days.
Marcos Rojo’s loan deal officially runs out at the end of June but Estudiantes may want to terminate the deal early as football in Argentina has been completely cancelled between now and then.
