Rival’s bid rejected for Man Utd target

Arsenal have rejected a £50 million offer for Alexis Sanchez from Manchester City, according to reports.

The Chilean superstar has been of much speculation today linking with a move to our neighbours.

It was earlier reported that City had made an offer of money plus Raheem Sterling for the 28-year-old.

The BBC are now reporting that Manchester City’s formal offer of £50 million has been rejected with little more than 48 hours left of this summer’s transfer window.

We reported earlier today that Manchester United could make a move for the former-Barcelona player before Thursday’s 11pm deadline.

Sanchez is in the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and has refused to put pen to paper over a new deal.

Arsenal now run the risk of losing their star on a free transfer next summer with Sanchez himself free to discuss the move with any potential suitors as early as January, provided he does not sign a new contract before then.

Alexis Sanchez previously played under current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, which is why it is believed the forward favours a move to the Etihad this summer.  He joined Arsenal in 2014 for a fee believed to be around £35 million.

The Arsenal star has scored 53 goals in his 104 Premier League matches but only made his first appearance of the season in their 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool on Sunday.  Sanchez was picked up by the cameramen looking distraught by his team’s performance as he sat in the stands after being substituted.
