Manchester United have signed two marquee attackers this summer.
Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have secured moves to United but could further bolster their attack with a new striker.
Manager Ruben Amorim is also prioritising the addition of a dynamic midfielder following Christian Eriksen’s departure.
Club legend Rio Ferdinand insists that the Red Devils must ‘break the bank’ for Brighton & Hove Albion star Carlos Baleba.
Speaking on his YouTube channel Rio Ferdinand presents, he said: “He’s an Amorim-type player.
“Physically, he’s great. He can drive with the ball, he can take it in all areas, very good tactically, great energy, great legs, Premier League experience, central midfield – Baleba.
“That’s who I would go and get, that’s the one I would go and get. I’d go and break the bank.”
Baleba has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting young midfielders in the Premier League.
With Bruno Fernandes set to play a deeper role, Baleba could become his ideal midfield partner.
The 21-year-old is known for his tenacity and elite ball-carrying ability.
He thrives in duels, reads the game well, and rarely backs down from a tackle.
He is also a shrewd passer and will help United progress the ball forward.
Baleba started 31 Premier League games last season, averaging 2.3 tackles and 5.8 ball recoveries per match.
Given his sky-high potential, Brighton are expected to slap a massive price tag on his head.
The Red Devils have already spent around £130m on Cunha and Mbeumo.
Any move for Baleba may hinge on how much they can recoup from the potential sales of Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia.
It is highly possible that United may have to drop their plans to buy a centre-forward if they make Baleba their next main target.
