Manchester United return to Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime to take on Liverpool at Anfield.
We head into the weekend’s fixtures joint top of the Premier League, already seven points ahead of our rivals after only seven games.
Marouane Fellaini’s injury picked up during Belgium’s 4-3 win at Bosnia and Herzegovina means that Jose Mourinho will be forced into changing his starting lineup from the one that thrashed Crystal Palace 4-0 last time out.
However, the big central midfielder may not be the only change.
A report from Club Call believes that Marcus Rashford will be dropped to the bench this weekend to help the teenager avoid burnout.
The 19-year-old played in both of England’s final two World Cup qualifiers this past week, culminating in the 1-0 win in Lithuania on Monday night.
Rashford has made an excellent start to the season with two goals and three assists in seven Premier League appearances (6 starts) down the left wing. He’s also scored in the Champions League having only played 31 minutes across two substitute appearances this season. When given his chance up front he scored twice in 90 minutes at home to Burton Albion in the EFL Cup last month.
In his place, Anthony Martial is favourite to start versus Liverpool. The French star famously scored the goal that sealed a 3-1 win against the Merseyside club in his debut for us on 12 September 2015. Martial has scored three goals and assisted two more in his six Premier League games this season despite only starting one of them.
Martial was named our player of the month for September and having not been called up by Didier Deschamps for France’s final two World Cup qualifiers this past week, will be fresh to start at Liverpool on Saturday.
It seems like the best choice to start Anthony Martial this weekend and have Marcus Rashford on the bench to make an impact as a substitute if required.
